Chapter 15: You've Got Soul - Physical Health, Spiritual Development and Beyond . . .

Send to friendPrinter-friendly version

When I first heard of Pranic Healing, I was employed as a Licensed Physical Therapist Assistant who worked with chronic pain patients. I went to class hoping simply to learn some new healing techniques that would help my patients, nearly all of whom get little relief from most traditional medical treatments. But not only did I acquire a new healing techniques that did help my patients tremendously, I learned a new way to become spiritually closer and connected to God. This was totally unexpected. As an ordained lay minister in my church and someone who for years had completed prayer journals, I felt that my spiritual life and relationship with God was already very fulfilling. Yet, what I learned from Master Co, especially how to perform Meditation on Twin Hearts, was beyond any spiritual experience I had ever had. During this meditation, I felt a oneness and connectedness to God that I had never felt before. I could actually feel Godâs love pouring over me and through me, opening my heart to respond to this love. Practicing this meditation daily gave me a new and powerful awareness of how we are truly instruments of the Divine.

I had also been doing service for years in my church and community -- or so I thought. After practicing this meditation and studying the teachings of Grandmaster Choa and Master Co, though, I came to see how limited my understanding of service really was. I now fully realize that "it is in giving that we receive." My original desire was to learn simply how to heal my patients more effectively. But now, my is more spiritually - and even financially - abundant than I ever imagined because of the teachings I have learned.

In this final chapter we put physical health and energy into a more spiritual context. It's a natural next step for many who explore physical health through alternative or esoteric methods, and it's a particularly appropriate next step for those exploring energy-based healing.

Letâs begin with the dissociation meditation. Take your time with it. Let your imagination go, and pay attention to your feelings. It's simple to perform, but it can have a dramatic effect on how you view your body, your mind and your physical health. It may be easier for you to read through the exercise first, so that you are able to do it without having to read each step.

Exercise #15-A: Disassociation meditation

1. Sit down in a darkened room, close your eyes, and go through your physical relaxation routine. Perform seven cycles of pranic breathing. Be aware of your whole body.

2. Put your attention on your feet and legs for several seconds. Continue pranic breathing, and then see and feel them disappear.

3. Put your attention on your waist, chest, and torso for several seconds. Continue pranic breathing, and then see and feel them disappear.

4. Put your attention on your hands and arms for several seconds. Continue pranic breathing, and then see and feel them disappear.

5. Put your attention on your head for several seconds. Continue pranic breathing, and then see and feel your head disappear.

6. Perform several cycles of pranic breathing as you are aware of your body "not being there."

7. Silently say, "I am not the body; I exist independently of the body." Be still for about 30 seconds.

8. Visualize a reddish-pink silhouette or outline of your physical body.

9. Silently say, "This is my emotional body. It contains any emotions that I have ever created or experienced. It allows me to feel and experience emotions and feelings, but it is not me."

10. See it fading and vaporizing into nothingness.

11. Silently say, "I am not the body, I am not the emotions. I exist independently of the physical and emotional bodies." Be still for about 30 seconds.

12. Visualize a bluish-yellowish silhouette or outline of your physical body.

13. Silently say, "This is my mental body. It contains any thoughts that I have ever created or experienced. It allows me to think and experience thoughts and ideas, but it is not me."

14. See it fading and vaporizing into nothingness.

15. Silently say, "I am not the body, I am not the emotions, nor the thoughts. I exist independently of the physical, emotional, and mental bodies." Be still for about 30 seconds.

16. Silently say, "I am not the body; the body is a vehicle of the soul. I am not my emotions or my thoughts; they are just products of the soul. I am not even the mind. The mind is the just the instrument of the soul. I am the soul! I am a being of Divine Intelligence, Divine Love, and Divine Power. I am connected to God. I am one with God. I am one with All. I am the Soul!ä Be still for three to five minutes and simply let go.

17. Slowly open your eyes, take several pranic breaths, and stretch.

As you perform this exercise, you realize that "you" are not your body. Nor are "you" your thoughts or emotions. Even if your body and thoughts were to disappear physically, not just figuratively, "you" remain. This "you" or "I am" that you've been in touch with in this meditation is your soul.

The soul is a spark from the universal flame, which some call God. God puts forth this portion of himself, which then incarnates, or takes a body, in the lower plane, the earth. As an extension of God, our soul is in a state of permanent health, a state of unchanging, prolonged awareness and peace. We may not be consciously aware of it, but we inherently know that this state of peace resides within us.

As we seek health, success and happiness in the physical world, we are often oblivious to how close true health, success and happiness are, because we donât look inward. But when we become aware of the limitations of our physical body and the imperfections of the material world - as we must inevitably - our innate knowledge of this inner state of peace and health is stirred. This is called spiritual restlessness.

There are many ways spiritual restlessness is awakened. It is commonly prompted by a life crisis, such as a reversal of fortune or tragedy that is difficult to explain - for example, disastrous material loss or the death of a someone close. It is often felt when we have a premature brush with mortality ourselves, or when we near the end of our life and seek to put things in order. Or, we may feel it after we attain our worldly goals - success, fame, prosperity, or in the case of our focus here, physical health - and then find ourselves wondering if "that's all there is." It may arise simply as a result of exploring physical health through alternative or esoteric practices, as you are doing with this book. Or, it may be awakened naturally in those who are particularly sensitive or spiritually developed. Regardless of how we come to this awareness, we all have within us this intrinsic need to "return to the source," to have contact with our soul to access that inner peace and health.

Inner peace amid chaos

It is said that years ago a certain spiritual master held a contest among his students to see who could draw the best representation of complete inner peace. Most of the paintings were of vast mountains with snow-capped peaks standing silent and majestic, or calm lakes, reflecting perfectly the trees around them in a glass-smooth surface, or dark forests of fir trees, so dense and quiet, you could hear a leaf falling to the ground. But one student painted a scene of a violent storm with thunder cracking and lightning flashing while rain poured down in torrents, feeding a waterfall that crashed down a mountain. But, the student also painted behind that waterfall, in a dark, dry crack that extended deep into the rock of the mountain, a single, live branch on which sat a small bird's nest. In that deep crevasse in the mountain, the mother bird and her babies were dry, safe, and quiet while the storm raged around them.

Which of the pictures most accurately reflects the physical world and our quest for calm in a world of such turmoil? Which of the pictures best portrays our search for inner stillness amid the ceaseless, disordered chatter of our monkey mind? This is the essence of our inherent desire to make contact with the soul: We need to know that there is order or meaning in a disorderly or meaningless world, that there is a place of inner peace amid this chaos.

The formula through which we tap into this inner peace is simple: "Flush out the channel," or open the spiritual cord that runs from the crown chakra to the soul; and "tune in" to the right frequency, by cultivating stillness and awareness during meditation. When the mind is still and the body energetically clean, the soul can reach down and make contact with us, which gives us access to inner peace.

The six steps in Your Hands Can Heal You help you follow that formula. Regulating and clearing negative emotions, daily pranic breathing, and energetic hygiene work together to flush out your channel. The mindfulness meditation and Meditation on Twin Hearts give you the right frequency you need to achieve stillness and awareness. The energy manipulation techniques and energy-generation exercises give you the physical health and level of overall energy to pursue a higher path.

Physical Health and Spiritual Development

If you decide to intensify your practice and move beyond physical health to more spiritual matters, there are six other areas of inquiry you must consider. All are advanced concepts and deserve more discussion than we devote to them here. But this section gives you enough information to begin incorporating them into your personal plan for physical and spiritual development, if you wish. They are:

1. Increased need for purification and energetic hygiene

2. Proper attitude and respect for the teachings and sources of energy

3. Service

4. Karma

5. Tithing

6. Kundalini syndrome

What People Are Saying

Healing of a Burn

I work as a repair technician for Motorola, Inc., in the cellular phone division. The printed circuit boards are surface mount boards. To remove components, we use a 600-watt heat gun designed to strip linoleum off floors. Its nose is a metal piece about four inches long. One morning, my bench partner used the heat gun and placed it (still hot) on my bench while I was concentrating on tracing a signal on the circuit board before me. It toppled over and landed squarely on the top of my right hand.
